Lit & Cozy (“we”, “us”, “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights — under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), and similar laws.
1. Who we are
Lit & Cozy is a small online shop selling reading accessories, operated as an independent merchant. You can reach us at hello@litandcozy.com.
2. What we collect
We collect only what we need to fulfill your order and improve the shop:
- Order details: name, shipping address, billing address, email, phone (if provided), items ordered.
- Payment details: processed by Stripe and/or PayPal. We never see or store your full card number.
- Account info: if you create an account, we store your email and a hashed password.
- Browsing data: cookies, IP address, browser type, pages visited, referring URL — collected via standard analytics and pixels (see Section 5).
- Email subscriptions: only if you opt in — we will never sign you up automatically.
3. How we use your information
- Process and ship your order.
- Email you order confirmations, shipping updates, and customer service responses.
- Comply with tax, accounting, and customs requirements.
- Detect fraud and protect the shop.
- Improve our products and site through aggregated analytics.
- Send marketing emails — only if you opt in.
4. Who we share with
We share the minimum necessary data with these processors:
- Stripe — payments. Privacy policy
- PayPal — payments. Privacy policy
- Shipping carriers — name, address, tracking. (USPS, DHL, Yanwen, China Post.)
- Hostinger — site hosting. Privacy policy
- Pinterest, Google, Meta — analytics and ad pixels (only if you accept tracking cookies).
We do not sell your personal information.
5. Cookies and tracking
We use:
- Essential cookies — keep your cart and login working. Cannot be disabled.
- Analytics cookies — help us understand which pages work. You can opt out via the cookie banner.
- Marketing pixels — Pinterest Tag, Meta Pixel, Google Ads tag. Loaded only after you accept.
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate data.
- Delete your data (“right to be forgotten”).
- Receive a copy in a portable format.
- Object to processing or withdraw consent.
- Opt out of marketing emails (every email has an unsubscribe link).
- For California residents: opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information (we already don’t sell, but you may still ask us to confirm).
To exercise any of these rights, email hello@litandcozy.com with the subject line “Privacy request”. We respond within 30 days.
7. Data retention
We keep order records for 7 years (tax law requirement). Marketing email lists are kept until you unsubscribe. Account data is kept until you ask us to delete it.
8. International transfers
Our processors may store data in the US, EU, and Asia. We rely on standard contractual clauses and the providers’ own GDPR programs.
9. Children
This shop is not intended for anyone under 13 (16 in the EU). We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If you believe we have, email us and we’ll remove it.
10. Changes
We may update this policy. The “Last updated” date at the top will reflect any change. Significant changes will be announced on the site.
